Ceramic braces deliver the same clinical results as metal braces, but with tooth-coloured brackets that are far less noticeable up close. A popular middle-ground at our Sandbach practice for older teens and adults who'd rather keep treatment low-key.

Ceramic braces work in exactly the same way as traditional metal braces - brackets bonded to each tooth, connected by a thin archwire that guides them gently into position. The difference is the brackets themselves, which are made from a tooth-coloured ceramic material that blends in with your natural enamel.
Up close they're still visible if someone is looking for them, but in everyday photographs, video calls and conversations they're far less noticeable than the silver brackets of a metal brace. For older teens, adults and anyone who'd rather keep treatment understated, that subtle difference often makes them the preferred option.

Once the brackets are fitted, ceramic braces feel very similar to metal braces in everyday wear. You eat and drink as you usually would (with a few sensible exceptions for very hard or sticky foods), and brushing is the same routine with a few extra steps to keep around the brackets clean.
You'll come in for short adjustment appointments every six to eight weeks so we can change the wires and check progress is tracking to plan. Between visits we're at the end of the phone for anything that crops up - a bracket coming loose, a ligature feeling sharp, or simply a question you want answered.
Ceramic braces give you the proven results of fixed braces with a more subtle look. Here's what patients value most.
Tooth-coloured brackets that blend into your smile in everyday conversations.
Just as capable as metal braces for treating a wide range of cases.
Rounded brackets sit gently against the cheek for a comfortable everyday feel.
Made from a hard-wearing ceramic material designed to last your full treatment.
A discreet alternative for adults who'd prefer their treatment to be low-profile.
Carefully planned by your orthodontic specialist, with clear progress milestones.

Your consultation includes a quick lifestyle chat alongside the clinical look - we'll ask about coffee, red wine and anything else that might affect how the elastic ties hold their colour. We'll show you photos of ceramic brackets on real teeth so the look is no surprise.
Fitting the braces takes a single appointment of around an hour or so, and you'll feel a little tenderness for a few days afterwards as your teeth start to move. From then on it's a check-in every six to eight weeks for adjustments, with the brackets quietly doing their job in the background.
When the braces come off, we polish the enamel and fit your retainer the same visit. Most patients tell us the brackets felt invisible within a couple of weeks of wearing them.
