Lingual braces sit on the back of your teeth, so treatment stays genuinely invisible in daily life. For our Sandbach patients - particularly professionals and adults in front of cameras or audiences - they're the most discreet fixed option available.
Arrange your consultation

Lingual braces are fixed braces that sit on the tongue-side surface of your teeth, rather than the front. From the outside, they're completely invisible - and because they work in essentially the same way as any other fixed brace, they can treat a similar range of cases without changing how your smile looks during treatment.
Each set is fully bespoke. A digital scan of your teeth is sent to a specialist laboratory where the brackets are designed individually to match the unique contour of each tooth, then machined and shipped back to us ready to fit - which is why lingual takes a little longer to plan than other braces.

Once the brackets are fitted, lingual braces feel a little different to front-of-tooth braces for the first week or two - your tongue meets them rather than your cheeks, and most patients notice a small change to their speech as it gets used to the new surface. By the second or third week, almost everyone is back to normal.
Like any fixed brace, you'll visit us every six to eight weeks for short adjustments. Brushing and flossing take a slightly different routine, which we'll talk you through at the fitting appointment, and we'll provide everything you need to keep them clean as they quietly do their work behind the scenes.
Lingual braces are the most discreet form of fixed braces available. Here's what patients value most.
Fitted to the back of your teeth so they stay invisible during everyday life.
Each bracket is shaped to fit the unique surface of your individual teeth.
Can treat a wide range of cases, from straightforward to more complex.
Carefully planned and adjusted by your orthodontic specialist throughout treatment.
An excellent option for adults who can't or don't want to wear visible braces.
Smile, present, photograph, talk - your treatment stays out of sight.

After your consultation, we take a detailed scan and send your case to a specialist laboratory where each bracket is digitally designed and machined to the exact contour of your individual teeth. This is what makes lingual genuinely invisible - and it's also why fitting takes a few weeks longer to plan than other braces.
Your fitting appointment is a little longer than for a standard brace, as each custom bracket is positioned with care. After a settling-in week, your routine adjustments slot easily into the calendar - usually quick visits every six to eight weeks where we change the wires and check progress against the original plan.
Like every brace, treatment ends with bracket removal and a retainer the same day. Because lingual sits behind your teeth, most people will never realise you've had treatment at all - which, for our adult patients, is usually the whole point.
